Treasurer Jim Townsend and Deputy Treasurer Beth Alt receive and manage the Township's funds, prepare and send out tax and sewer bills, and issue dog licenses from January 1 through March 1. The Treasurer is also a voting member of the Township Board, and is involved in developing the Township budget and policies, and managing the Township.
Tax Bills
Tax bills are issued twice a year. Summer taxes are due by September 14 2009 and winter taxes by February 14 2010. Taxes remaining unpaid are turned over to the Kent County Treasurer for collection on March 1.
Your 2010 summer taxes may be deferred until February 14, 2011 for 1) qualifying agricultural or horticultural property, or 2) for your residence if your household income the previous year is less than $40,000, and you are one of these: blind; an eligible service person or veteran; an eligible widow or widower; paraplegic or quadriplegic; a senior citizen age 62 or older; totally and permanently disabled.
E-Z Pay
You may now pay your tax and sewer bills by auto-deduct from your bank or credit union account using E-Z Pay. There are several benefits to enrolling in E-Z Pay. Your payments will never be delayed or lost in the mail, eliminating late charges. Your bills will be paid while you're out of town, on vacation or gone for the winter season. You won't need to spend money on stamps, or a trip to the Township office (even though we always like to see you)!
To enroll in E-Z Pay, complete and sign the authorization found here, and return it to:
Jim Townsend, Treasurer Alpine Township 5255 Alpine NW Comstock Park, MI 49321
Please note that payment will be pulled from your account approximately 10 business days before it is due.
Dog Licenses
Michigan law requires that all dogs four months of age or older be licensed. Licenses can be obtained at the Township office from January 1 through March 1. For other times of the year, call 632-7300.
